About the project

Manifesto is a research and theatre project. It is based on the Manifesto of Ted Kaczynski, the mathematician and terrorist, the man with the bombs, who was known to the American public, and the world, as UNABOMBER for 17 years before his identity was revealed by the police and he was arrested in 1996. If it had not been for the Manifesto, Ted Kaczynski would probably have faded into obscurity as one of the many maladjusters who went too far in their actions. But the Manifesto is here, and despite the brutal methods of its author's struggle, it remains an interesting text.

It states at the very beginning:
"The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life expectancy of those of us who live in "advanced" countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued developement of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in "advanced" countries." - The first point of Ted Kaczynski's Manifesto

Technology today, much more than it was three decades ago, is more than just an add-on to life - it is a biotope, our habitat. And although man is a highly adaptable animal, the world and nature are creeping through his fingers.

The project examines all these aspects of the impact of technology: on man as an individual psychological structure, on society and social problems that have become more acute since the Manifesto, and on nature and environmental issues that have become much more pressing and fatal in recent decades.

The project is conceived in three phases:
- a study and research phase
- a drama phase
- a performance phase
The project is scheduled to premiere in 2025 and thus to be completed.

The project does not take sides and, unlike Kaczynski, does not offer answers, but encourages, perhaps provokes, reflection. If new circumstances bring new rules, new means, new behaviours, new people... But perhaps the revolution also needs to be rethought?
